Tara's Shower

Well, it was nice to finally have the attention focused on someone else for a change. Don't get me wrong, anyone will tell you that I like being in the spotlight for the most part, but all the baby showers have been hard for me to handle. It is certainly a different kind of spotlight, and was hard to get used to. So, today we had a shower for Aunt Tara at Aunt Shell's house. We had a great time and it was just nice to see Aunt Tara and Baby Emma again...not to mention all our friends! We don't get together too often, so it was nice that everyone was there. Tara got a lot of nice things and it was definitely fun for me to go shopping for Emma, considering I haven't done a lot of shopping for myself lately. With all my showers, Daddy would kill me if I went out and spent a lot of money right now. Although, when you arrive, he may just change his mind. :-) Aunt Shell had a lot of great food as usual, and we played some more fun games...you know Aunt Shell, she just loves her games! Also, I actually won one of them so I got a nice prize!! After the shower was over, we just hung out there for a while and talked about baby stuff and what we were all experiencing, so that was fun! It has been wonderful to go through this with Aunt Shell and Aunt Tara! We have really been helping each other out with advice and all that good stuff, so glad to know we are all at that same point in our lives!! Babies, babies, babies...gotta love it!!!

Bunco Shower

Well, we had yet another shower tonight at Bunco. It was at Jory's so she wanted to surprise me with a shower for the girls. What a great surprise! It was extremely thoughtful of them, and Jory really went out of her way for this. In fact, she even made a little cake for Daddy so he wasn't left out of the fun! She is a great friend and we really appreciated that. She had created a few shower games that we played and then for old times sake, she even created a bowling game and we bowled...right there in her apartment! What a great time. We had so much fun, athough Mommy was a little rusty! It was pretty difficult to get it down, but it meant so much that she put so much effort into it! They even bought gifts for Aunt Shell too so she wasn't left out! What a great group of friends! All in all it was an extremely fun night at Bunco!

Baby Shower Day!!

Boy are we exhausted! We spent the majority of the morning at Grandma's school getting ready for the shower for Mommy's side of the family. Aunt Shell really went overboard...she had every last detail covered and didn't miss a beat. Actually, Grandma and I were giving her a hard time all morning cause she really "had a vision" of what it was going to look like and be like, and it went off without a hitch. Aunt Shell did awesome and we all had so much fun. We ate first and they had bought sandwiches and snacks, which was great...just what the doctor ordered. You of course enjoyed it just as much as Mommy. Then, we played all kinds of unique games that Aunt Shell had created. They were not the usual boring shower games, and she really put a lot of thought into it. She wanted people to have fun and be involved, without being bored with the same old games. Mission accomplished! It was great to see all my family and friends, and again they are all just as anxious to meet you as we are! We got a ton of great gifts and something really special Aunt Shell did was ask everyone to bring their favorite children's book for your library! So, that was really special and Mommy cannot wait to read to you! Since this was the third shower I have had, it is amazing to see what people are buying for you! There is some very unique things and I don't think you will need a thing when you arrive. Your nursery is so full already, and there is still more showers to go! Mommy cannot wait to get all this stuff home and put away in your room. We have had so much fun getting it ready for you..I hope you like it as much as I do. We had to load the car up after the shower, and believe me, there was not an empty spot in the car! Good thing I took Daddy's advice and cleaned out my trunk! :-) He had to help get everything in the house, and I look forward to getting it organized...at least somewhat organized...for you!!

Second Work Shower...Purchasing Group

Today was another great day at work...the girls from my old Purchasing area threw me another shower! It was awesome, and I got to see so many people that I haven't seen in quite some time. All of my Logistics team was there, as well as most of my old lunch group. It is amazing to see how many people are waiting for your arrival just as much as we are. We got so many nice things today that it was a bit overwhelming. They bought a cake and everything, and we even played a few shower games. They really went out of their way today and I appreciate it so much. You certainly are not going to need a thing when you get here...I think they covered everything! :-) We received quite a few more pink outfits, as well as all the essentials. We also received many books to start your library. Mommy cannot wait to read to you! It is hard to believe that we have not even had our family showers yet, cause I cannot imagine what else we are going to need! What a fun day...now Daddy will have to help carry everything in the house!!

Valentine's Day!

Today was Valentine's Day, and it was awesome. I worked from home again today cause I had to go to Eureka High School for the presentation. That went fairly well, although I ca certainly tell I am eight months pregnant..I got awfully winded at times and had to take a few deep breaths. I talk fast anyway, but that was ridiculous! Overall, it went well though and I am glad to have one under my belt. After that, I came home and worked a little more before going to my doctor's appointment. The doctor went well, and I had quite a few questions for him this time. The closer we are getting to your arrival, the more nervous I am getting and need to know a few more details about what to do and what to expect. So, Dr. Mueller was helpful in answering my questions, so I felt a little more at ease. After my appointment, I went to pick up Daddy's Valentine's Day gift. It was such a nice day out today...in the 60's...that I knew Daddy was probably getting the golfing itch. So, what a perfect gift. I got him a gift card for Golf Discount and he loved it. He guessed on my way home that I got him golf balls...I guess he was close! We met at the store on the way home and picked up some steaks that Daddy grilled out for Mommy. They were awesome, and it had been a while since we had steaks. So, we had steaks, baked potato, and cottage cheese...it was fantastic!! Also, Daddy had another surprise for Mommy. He bought Mommy a ring and had it laying on the table that he had set for me! I couldn't believe it, and was totaly shocked. It is beautiful and I love it. The band is both white gold and pink gold, with one diamond in the middle with two pick diamonds on the outside. It is so perfect and I just love it. Mommy was definitely surprised with this one...he did good, as usual! We had a great night!!

Even More Foot Issues...

Well, I went to work today, and the foot went right back to where it was before the weekend. It was so swollen by the end of the day, that I just needed to get home and get it up again. Daddy was not too happy, and in fact suggested that I stay home from Bunco in order to elevate it. So, I took his advice, which was better anyway cause I have to give a presentation tomorrow at Eureka High School. I just remembered I had to do that late this afternoon, so I will be preparing for that the remainder of the evening...not to mention, with my foot elevated!

Lazy Weekend

Well, I was right about the rest of the weekend. I did not move far from the couch or chair all weekend. It kiiled me just to relax and let Daddy do all the work...actually, that wasn't so bad...it was nice for Daddy to take care of me. Although, it was extremely difficult to just lay around and do nothing. Usually we are on the move all weekend with something to do...and it is go, go, go. However, this was a first for us. Even Daddy stayed home, although he like doing that more than Mommy. We watched a few movies, and it actually turned out to be a nice weekend. The foot was a lot better today, so hopefully going to work tomorrow won't combat everything we did over the weekend.

Thanks Daddy!

Had to work from home again today. My foot has not gotten any better, so I needed to elevate it all day. It was a little tough to get most things done, however I didn't move far from the couch all day long. Just enough to use the potty and grab something quick to eat. Daddy was pretty harsh with me this evening as well, he did not let me get up at all. I hate to admit that he is right, but nothing else has seemed to work, so that is the game plan all weekend...stay in and keep the foot elevated.

First Shower...and First Hospital Visit

Today was a great day at work...for the most part! My foot is still swollen and I am getting around very slowly. However, with all that my new HR area threw me a baby shower over lunch today! It was so much fun and they really took care of you. We had La Gondola for lunch which was great and almost everyone was there. I remembered my camera, so I got some good pictures of everyone I work with. The gifts were fabulous and I knew there was a reason I had been sying away from registering for anything pink. I just knew that would be what people wanted to buy, was the cute, pink, girly clothes! :-) And, they did! I got quite a few little outfits today, so that was a lot of fun! Daddy was not as excited, but I do think he had just as much fun seeing what we got that day. So, one down and three more to go! I still cannot believe I will have four showers just for one little baby girl! :-) Towards the end of the day, my foot was really bothering me, so I decided to leave a little early and call the doctor on my way home from work. Well, I simply indicated it has not gotten any better and was just curious if there was anything else I could do...put ice on it, wrap it, etc. Shortly after I got home and had put it up, I got a call from the doctor's office to go to Labor and Delivery as soon as I could. So, after being quite confused, off we went. Daddy of course called Angie on the way to see what she thought. Basically, she said we were probably going there cause they were busy at the doctor's office. She said we would probably be there for quite a while and then they would just send us home. Well, she was right. We got there and got into a room, afte rhaving seem Mandy at work. She took a look as well and it wsa nice to see a familiar face. She stopped by a few times while we were there, so that was nice. They ended up hooking me up to a monitor so they could see how you were doing. It was great of course to hear your heartbeat and every little movement you made. It always puts a smile on my face. Then, they did an ultrasound to check you as well. It wsa quite amusing because there were two doctors conducting the ultrasound...one expereienced and one that was just learning. It was pretty comical cause he was a little unsure of himself at times and Kim was providing humorous instructions. After sitting there for quite some time with mere confusion on the faces of the nurses, the indicated Dr. Thompson had requested yet another Doppler Study to be done. We were a little confused and concerned with doing another one when we just did the same thing on Monday, but after much discussion, decided it was best to do it again. Well, it came back okay again, so that was good news. After waiting a little longer, it was about 9:00 and Alice was there checking on us, she was able to order a food tray for us to have dinner. So, that was nice cause I know you were wondering what was going on. You were extrmeely active the entire time we were there, so I bet that was why. Shortly after that, she came back and said we could go home. So, now we wait again until meeting with Dr. Mueller on Tuesday. I was a little disappointed that Dr. Thompson had been making all of the decisions tonight and not Dr. Mueller, so I will be sure to talk to him about that on Tuesday. We got home past 10:00, so it is defintiely bed time.

More Foot Issues..

I worked from home today so I could elevate my foot all day. It seemed to worked a little, but the second I had to walk on it again, it swelled back up and seemd to be the same as it had been the say before. So, not sure what else I need to do, cause Dr. Mueller didn't really provide any other instructions. It was pretty painful though and I just want it to get better. Right now, nothing seems to be helping it and I am just getting frustrated. Daddy has been wonderful helping me out and taking care of me while I am unable to get around too quickly. He has been doing laundry and cleaning up from the game on Snday! I hope this is an indication of how well he will do once you arrive. So far, so good!

Foot Issues

Today was a rough day at work. I called Dr. Mueller first thing in the morning to let him know about my foot, and he seemed concerned right away that it was only one side. So, he ordered for me to go to the Center for Health for a Doppler Study test on my leg and foot. So, I had to leave work early for that. I was there for quite some time, but everything came back normal it seems. The doctor's office called back with results and simply indicated I needed to keep it elevated for as much of the day as I can. I will sure try, but it is extremely difficult! We'll see what happens.

Super Bowl Sunday!

Today was the big Super Bowl Day...Seattle vs. Pittsburgh. I wasn't really into the game too much, but it was fun to have everyone over at the house. Daddy and gone to the store and we made his famous deer chili...of course Mommy couldn't have any! It sure looked and smelled wonderful though..I'm sure you would have liked it! Regardless, we had lots of fun and ended up playing cards for the better part of the game. We always have fun playing cards, and had the game sheets going as well. Daddy and I had made up the questions to see how many we could get right during the game. I think Aunt Shell and Kaleigh won! Today was a little hard for Mommy cause her right ankle was acting up again. It was completely swollen and extremely hard to walk. I tried to keep it elevated as best as I could, but it was hard. I was trying to clean up throughout the day, rather than keeping it up! Everyone left fairly late, so tomorrow will be hard to get up for work.

Baby Registry...Baby Depot

Today was another fun-filled day! I went to Morton to pick up the picutres that Daddy and I had taken with Michelle. They turned out pretty good, and it will just be nice to have some memories of when you were in Mommy's belly to show you when you get older. I know a lot of people thought we were crazy for even doing them, but now that I have seen them, I am glad we did. I certainly am not going to blow up a life size picture for the lving room, but it will still be nice to share at a later time. Aunt Shell and Kaleigh met us there too so we could go for lunch and to register at Baby Depot. We went to Monical's for lunch and Grandma met us there as well. We had a great lunch and I was able to show Grandma the pictures we took. After lunch, we went over to Baby Depot to continue the registering process. I had already picked out the majority of big things such as the stroller, pack n play, high chair, etc. So, that part was easy, but then the other things started to get a little more difficult and overwhleming again. However, we made it through the aisles one by one, and I think we covered everything! We had a great time, but I could tell I needed to sit down. My feet were starting to hurt and I knew I needed to relax. We picked up your bedding items as well, so I cannot wait to get that organized! After we got home, Daddy and I started cleaning the house for everyone coming over for the big Super Bowl game tomorrow.

Baby Registry...Target

Tonight was another exhausting night. I have my first shower at work next week so everyone was getting on me about getting out there to register. So, Mom and I did part of that tonight. We went to Target and knocked that one out so the folks in Bloomington would have a place to shop. It was quite overwhleming, but we had a lot of fun! I think Grandma was even more excited about it than I was at times! :-) It was so nice to have her there to help out...she has doen this three times, although most of the stuff they have out these days was not around when she had kids. I contribute some of her excitement to that as well. She keeps commenting that she isn't sure how we all survived without all that stuff! It's fun to hear the storeis from her about how we came into the world. And it will be nice to share our joy with her as well. Can you beleive they have an entire aisle of nothing but bottles and pacifiers?? Who knew! We registered for a few of everything just because we're not sure yet what you will like. So, we'll have to try a few things out before we need to buy more. Anyway, it was a fun night and I cannot wait to get some of these things at my showers. Hopefully then I will start to feel a little more prepared about your arrival. Right now if you were to come, I think we would not be ready. We would definitely need to make a few trips to the store!!
