Back to the Doctor!

Olivia has continued to have her terrible cough. It has been over a month, and has lasted through her double ear infection and strep throat, so we decided to call the doctor again. In fact, we called the after hours nurse tonight, cause it was pretty bad. It took her about 45 minutes to fall asleep tonight cause she was coughing so bad. During that time, Shane was on the phone with the nurse. She had us checking everything while she was finally asleep...the color of her lips, her chest and she was breathing in and out, how many breaths she took in a minute, etc. So, it was comforting cause I really felt like she was doing a thorough job over the phone. She suggested we call the doctor first thing in the morning, so we did and were able to get her in. The doctor did another thorough check in the office and said everything looks and sound great! No more ear infection, her lungs were clear, her nose was clear, and basically said we just need to wait it out. He said it could potentially take 6-8 weeks before getting rid of it altogether! The good news is that is has already been between 5-6 weeks, so hopefully it won't last much longer! She continues to take her cough medicine as needed and it seems to help, so now it is a waiting game. She seems to be in a good mood even though it is frustrating for her at times, but she is a trooper! She has thrown up several times cause she is coughing so hard, and that is what makes it worse!! Either way, we'll do what the doctor says and see how she does!!!
